High Grade M 1860 Staff Officer Sword. LearnMore, Very rare Ames with gold washed, quillback, Damascus blade from Solingen. LearnMore, This sword was a product of the Ames Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of swords, tools and cutlery in Chicopee, Massachusetts. It has a metal scabbard instead of the normally seen (870-32). Albaugh attributed them to to Kraft, Goldschmidt and Kraft of (870-565). LearnMore, This is a nice example of a U.S. militia officers sword of the 1840s, pushing toward 1850 with its use of sharkskin grip. The sword itself has The hilt also retains all 14 original wraps of the double strand, twisted gilt brass wire. Right fuller is marked with 144. wide Condition: Excellent+
